Old School Trick-Or-Treating

Happy belated Halloween everyone! Things were a bit low-key for the big spooky day at our house this year due to some recent life changes and subsequent time/sleep demands. If it wasn't for Nana coming to the rescue, we may not have even had a most beloved Spiderman costume! The highlight was the "old school" trick-or-treating that still goes on up in these safer mountain foothills. We tried to be more prepared this year with extra candy, but still ran out early (next year, we're overloading)! It was fun for Jonah to watch all the trick-or-treaters in their costumes (he didn't care a bit about the candy). One house on our street goes all out with dummies coming out of the ground/coffins/etc, ghosts flying down from the house, a fogger and the owner sitting in his living room with a keyboard and mic for the special effects.....the guy saw Jonah trying to muster some courage from the street and taunted him on the mic with "Come on Spiderman....I didn't think you were afraid of anything!". So, my 3-year-old Spiderman spent the rest of the night having a major internal battle....he was scared to death of that house, but was also supposed to be a fearless superhero.....what does a kid do? I tried my best to assure him it was okay to be afraid and even superheroes get scared....he wasn't convinced and has been working to improve his superhero skills ever since.

Here is a pic of the Lee family superheroes heading out for some spooky fun. It was a nice break for mom to get out and move around - thankfully my companion has short legs and we could walk at a nice slow pace. :) (Note: Jonah has a can of silly string in his hands - it was his "web" and was sprayed at all sorts of spooks passing by!)

Kaisa! You're so cute. I loved yours and Jonah's costumes. And yes Jones' house is awesome =] and he builds all of those monsters himself.
